If you are thinking about adopting a bichon…… well perhaps you should read my animals that give pause blog on blogger , and the best place to go is Petfinder for a bichon or any other dog or cat for adoption of course there are many other organizations out there but most are linked up with petfinder I believe.

Of course Bichon Frise are just incredibly cute……even if he is a big tough boy and mama makes him hold her ebay paintings…..

Bichons can be forced to pretend they like some cats.

Bichons can balance very well.

Bichon Frise can look incredibly wise @ a young age.

Bichons can explain to young children how to best get treats……

And Bichons can play well with others…..

For those of you who weren’t with me when I had my mental breakdown lost our dog Mugsey this summer we no longer have the lab in this film. He was such a sweet puppy, his name was Mugsey because he looked so much like the dog on the flea control commercial…..some of these mugs may have bugs but there aint no bugs on me! I checked out this auction when I first read about it and then just now and it’s got two more bids in like an hour or so ……

Bichon Frise Dog In Reverse

This is Dispatch looking for the jake brake monster in the truck. Don’t knock the floors, I’ve spent more on truck carpeting than most people have in house carpet and this is easy to clean plus I’m getting a bumper sticker that says PAID FOR!! LOL

This was going down the road, taken with phone camera explains the fuzzieness somewhat?, see Dispatches bed? Daddy bought a seat cushion and then didn’t like it, guess who got it?

Not sure what he was looking for there but I’m sure it was coming through the floor to get him like so many things have………NOT!! But who knows what goes on in a bichon brain?

Here he is in his favorite place in the truck, Daddies seat, problem is he wants to be in it while Daddy is driving and although Daddy is talented this is a bit dangerous for any more than a minute in the middle of no where. So Dispatch has gotten this habit of sitting @ Daddies feet and looking imploringly @ him to pick him up or doing the steering wheel trick. Daddy won’t tell Dis no (shades of our child rearing days, I get to be the bad guy) so I have to tell Dis he can’t sit between Daddy and the pedals. So we are arguing, the dog and I that is, I actually chained him up in the back and stayed in back with him for awhile, he starts trying to go in front of Daddy every time I’m ignoring him. So Dis stands there and you can see the light bulb go off in the wee fuzzy brain and he sticks his bony butt in front of Daddies seat and BACKS in front of Daddies seat!! It was so hilarious, this might have been partly caused by me tugging on his tail to get him to come out. Maybe, but it was FUNNY, no hate mail about pulling the dogs tail, he could care less most of the time and I don’t hurt him, I just get his attention. He knows what I want anyway if he’s smart enough to back in? LOL Post on the “other” animals blog about Dispatch and the border patrol, we might not ever laugh if it wasn’t for our favorite fuzzball!!

Misty Water Colored Memories Of The Way We Were

I’m really good @ coming up with catchy titles that have no actual bearing on my subject matter in any truly constructive way? In other words people aren’t going to be looking for memories on the search engines to come up with a video of a bichon and a lab playing but….that’s the way I roll.

BTW, I don’t normally say or even think that’s the way I roll, it just came out. Maybe I’m ill? This is sort of a tribute to Mugsey, I was looking for pictures of Dispatch and came across these. Sorry they are long.. enjoy.

Oh and I know I’m not supposed to let the bichon latch onto my arm growling but it’s soooo much fun and I doubt he turns into killer dog but you never know. Plus he has been fixed and he has to get his jollies where he can ……don’t cha think? My brother says the bichon thinks he’s like dominating me and preparing to hump when he grabs me like that…I think bro is just trying to gross me out?

Bichon Frise in Sunglasses

What happens when you have too much time and a semi willing bichon frise. The look of absolute disgust from him was not in the least enhanced, he really felt that way about me I’m sure.

Happy New Years if I’m not back on before then, I have limited battery power and then when I can run the inverter I have limited internet speed!!

I used baby powder on him and brushed him out this morn, 2 weeks w/o a bath for him, (I’ve had several thank you) and he is a bit stinky. We had to eat Christmas Dinner in a truck stop but I am in FLORIDA!!! Shirt sleeve weather, I think it quit snowing in the midwest after what 4 or 5 days??

How Dispatch The Bichon Frise Got His Name

My friend Cindy, mama of Chloe, asked the question how Dispatch got his name. Basically we had a trucking company, Dispatch didn’t have a name for a few days, my husband or my BIL (there is still discussion about this) suggested the name Dispatch because the tiny fluffball of a puppy was calling the shots and making everyone jump already. Also we all have sick senses of humor and it was funny if someone called to talk to Dispatch and we said “Okay, if you want to you can talk to him but he can’t talk too well yet but he’s learning”. Of course we only did this to people we knew fairly well.

Dispatch is a good name for him because he does dispatch everyone to do his will. Of course the kids say he’s spoiled, I accuse my husband of doing most of it and he said he had to do something to keep up with me or the dog wouldn’t like him, he FINALLY admitted it.

I got Dispatch as a consolation for not going to college, I was supposed to start in August and my husband decided he had wanted a trucking company longer than I had wanted to go to college and I had to stay home and do the paperwork (plus we had money for one or the other but not both). It was supposed to be for a year, it was 3. I got Dispatch the September after we got our authority the previous November. My husband was raised without animals in the house (I was too but it wasn’t my idea or my dads) and husband wasn’t going to have a dog in the house, went against the farmer thing of animals outside. Of course it took a couple weeks and Dispatch was sleeping with us (my husbands idea) and my husband would freak when Dis yelped about anything.

Once again we wish everyone the merriest of Holidays and our hearts go out to the unemployed and homeless (19,000 children homeless in Dallas Ft. Worth area?) Our thoughts are also with the drivers and other employees of Arrow trucking that basically closed it’s doors without notice yesterday.

What did you THINK this was about considering this is a pg 13 rated blog?
My first choice of title had doggie style in it.
Do we have to perform trepanation (drilling a hole in skull) to wash your mind out with soap?
Just kidding (except about the title, I thought that was catchy?).

This will take some explanation, when Dispatch (bichon fries)was a puppy I lost him in our crew cab pickup, literally couldn’t find him but could hear him. That is what my husband says created Dispatches obsession with being close to me. Or rather I created Dispatches obsession with being close because I didn’t want to lose him again.

Since we’ve been in the big truck Dispatch has been pretty good about riding but if the jake brake comes on too much or we hit rumble strips he gets nervous or sometimes just needs mommy. But he needs mommy to hold him a certain way (thus assume the position) his front needs to be supported by my left arm while he is sort of pressing against my chest. If he’s tired he can drape and doze like this but if it’s a matter of being comforted he needs to be fully supported and muzzle might go on shoulder too. If he gets on my lap and my arm is not convenient for him to drape himself over or be supported by he will scratch @ it or nuzzle it, then he looks @ me and scratches and nuzzles some more like you old hag, have you forgotten what your purpose in life is? The right arm doesn’t work and no one else can do this for Dispatch. Mommy sometimes gets tired of this, everyone else who sees this says Dispatch is the most spoiled dog in the world as he can’t even support his own body but he just wants to cuddle and sit like a person.

Dispatch and the black hole

I have no picture of me holding Dis in the position but I do have one of Dispatches new obsession. Staring in the black hole. It’s in the dash of the truck, actually it’s a drawer on the floor with an opening above it. At first I thought he was like wanting a tv there and then we realized that most of the noises he hears from truck are up there in the engine so he might catch sight of those monsters that are making those growls if he waits long enough and stares @ this black hole that looks like it leads to the noises. The other explanation is he is showing his extreme boredom and making me doubt his sanity by sitting and staring @ a black hole for hours on end (Daddy votes for this one and says he is saying pick me up, I’m abused so I will stare @ my black hole if you won’t pick me up and hold me like a baby)? Either one is equally likely.

We are all fine, I will TRY to blog more.

Things About My Mama

Hey this is the Dis, that’s me up there, nice and cozy on the quilt, see, lord and master of all I observe? This is what my mama sees most of the time when she looks up from computer. The chair was her Daddies (I never met him but I’ve heard tales about candy bars and spoiling dogs).

Head prop position

This is the position I assume when I’m a bit tired but want to keep an eye on my mama. She’s been known to escape ya know and hard telling what kind of trouble she could get into by herself! The thing sitting on the bench is her bread maker, she says she’s making bread more, I’m thinking she needs to make STEAK and ROAST more? Yes that’s a pedal tractor in the family room, they do make those grandkids go outside to ride them most of the time though.

I can feel myself slipping

I must keep awake though, my services in barking @ a car or guarding my mama against that horrible evil cat named Meany may be needed @ any second. BTW did you notice the pink pepto hair around my mouth. I’m feeling better now. Mama keeps telling me the white rug in the living room is not my make believe newspaper, whoooooops! old keyboard

Do you notice anything about this keyboard other than mama really needs to clean it (remember I only use this one once every couple months and dust do collect)? Like no one else can use it unless they touch type because part of the keys aren’t even showing the letters anymore. It’s really funny when my Uncle tries to use it (my daddies brother) he curses and yells, my Daddy can sort of remember where the letters should be. The bad thing is my mama has worn out like 5 or 6 of these, and a couple wireless ones. Maybe she should have written a book about ME with all that useless typing?

50th wedding

My mama found this picture and she says I can show you, it’s my uncle and people I can’t place but Mama says they are her mommy and daddy and it was something like a 50th anniversary? I wonder if that is like a 50th birthday? I knows my Uncle (mama says he was just being obstinate wearing suspenders to his parents 50th wedding anniversary) (My mama also says she wasn’t fed as a child which should be obvious but I’m thinking she’s always done those diet things?) My mama said that my sisters were in high school when this taken which makes mama sort of old. Mama said she knows she almost forgot to do her mama’s hair and it doesn’t look like she did her own either? She also says she really does love her brother, he was just saying horribly annoying embarrassing things when the picture was taken. (imagine?) She also says she wasn’t a nurse, that was her linen suit that she had for like years and years, she just was a bit skinnier then. And those ARE her parents and that is her brother, she was just an afterthought big time.

I wonder where the Dis was in these pictures? I’m ALWAYS in pictures? And there was cake there and I wasn’t there? Wonder if they put me in a crate!!!? Oh well. Mama wrote on her Missouri Books Blog about Cesar Millan’s newest book A Member of the Family. Personally I think it should be the leader of the pack or the king of the family but if poor delusional Cesar wants to pretend he’s in charge that’s fine with me. I’ll let the humans have their fantasy life as long as it doesn’t interfere with cheese, meat, and warm beds.
